SHOCKING: Nyamira Express Buses Collide Near Keroka Town As The Drivers Tried To Greet Each Other
Five
people have been killed on the spot after two buses belonging to
Nyamira Express company collided near Keroka, about 30 kilometres from
Kisii town.
Traffic Commandant Samuel Kimaru said the five died
on the spot while several others were rushed to hospital with serious
injuries. Among the dead was the driver of the bus that was ferrying
passengers from Kisii to Nairobi.
Mr Fred Ndubi, an eye witness
who was walking to his home when the incident occurred said that one of
the bus drivers tried greeting his colleague in the other bus, when he
lost control of the vehicle.
“He tried greeting his colleague by hooting first before leaving the
steering to wave his hand through the window when the vehicle ripped off
part of the other bus,” he said.
The number of fatal road
accidents have been on a steady rise in the recent past raising fears of
a lapse in enforcement of traffic regulations.
