Deputy President William Ruto is a man who values his traditions despite all the trappings of power, it has now emerged. His youngest son is currently somewhere in a bush, undergoing his initiation to manhood.
Ruto Junior joined 65 other agemates in a male circumcision ritual which took place one week ago in a bush around Kitengela.
As a member of the kalenjin community, a 'tarusiat' (recently cut) is expected to stay for four weeks in the bush until he heals completely.
The young man will have to do with sack clothes for the entire duration. Also in the Kitengela bush is Kapenguria MP Samuel Moroto's son.
