The 52-year John Muthiora Ngaruiya, who confessed in the public of being an Al-Shabaab, noted that he travelled all the way from Nakuru to Kitale to inform Government officials about the
impending terror attack on Westgate Mall, Limuru Bata and Delmonte Factory among others but they didn’t take him serious.
Ngaruiya further noted that upon returning from Somalia and after being remanded for 8 years until 2010 for highway robberies, the Al-Shabaab gave him sh200,000 to recruit more people into the Al Qaeda linked group with the help of his Nakuru friend Mr. Muriuki, who was a manager at Murugu Farm.
However, on September 1st this year, some Arab and Somali terrorists visited him and Kariuki at Murugu Farm and showed them photos of the buildings they wanted to attack and gave them sh200,000 each to get more youths to Al-Shabaab.
But later on, he refused to betray innocent people and chose to share the information with the police both in Kitale and in Nairobi over the Westgate attack which was to happen in September.
And to his surprise, the police took the sh200,000 he was given by AlShabaab and arrested him until after the attack took place.
Ngaruiya is said to have recruited more youths from Kapenguria and North Rift to join Al-Shabaab since 2010.
