DAVID MOYES has told troubled star Wayne Rooney he expects him on the final leg of their pre-season tour.
Rooney is the subject of a £30million bid from Chelsea, who are hoping he has played his last game in a Manchester United shirt.
The England striker had to leave the club’s pre-season tour of the Far East and Australia after only one day owing to a hamstring injury.
But asked if he would be fit to face AIK Fotball in Stockholm on August 6, Moyes said: “Yes. He’s coming on and doing some light jogging now.
“The feedback I’m getting from home is that he’s progressing.
“We’ve said he’s not for sale and that hasn’t changed.”
Rooney is in turmoil after his controversial end to last season.
He was dropped for the final two games with Alex Ferguson claiming he had asked to leave the club for a second time.
Rooney disputes this but is now ready for a clean break and to start again elsewhere.
But United and Moyes have other ideas and are sticking to their guns.
Moyes was speaking yesterday after seeing his side go down to their second defeat of the pre- season tour by 3-2 to Yokohama F-Marinos.
That follows the defeat in the opening game by 1-0 to Singha All Stars in Bangkok before a 5-1 win over the A-League All Stars in Sydney. United were behind inside 27 seconds — but then lead through Jesse Lingard and an own goal.
Yokohama’s very own Fabio drew the home side level with a far-post header on 49 minutes.
Then in the 87th minute, Yoshihito Fujita stunned United’s thousands of Japanese fans with the winner.
Moyes said: “I’m disappointed with the goals we conceded. We had a lot of chances to win the game.
“We had opportunities at 2-1 and had other chances after that. We didn’t take them.
“It was a tough game. They are decent and played well.”
The game was played in sweltering humidity in the Nissan Stadium where United won the World Club Cup on their last visit in 2008.
Moyes said: “The biggest thing was the effort the players had to put in. The players worked hard.
“You could tell how hot it was and we were trying to get as many of them through 90 minutes.
“Some did very well and we were pleased with that.”
Moyes has slight injury concerns with Michael Carrick (groin) and Robin van Persie, who came off at half time yesterday, with a thigh problem.
They will probably now miss the next friendly game of the tour on Friday against Cerezo Osaka.
